GCSE pupils from Richmond are among the brightest in the country, according to the latest results.
Richmond pupils ranked 14th in the country for five or more A* to C GCSE grades including English and maths and came second nationally for English Baccalaureate passes.
It charts an improvement on last year's respective rankings of 30th and seventh in the same exams for students across the borough.
Councillor Paul Hodgins, cabinet member for education, said: “Richmond has always been one of the best places in the country to be educated and these latest figures show our children continue this proud tradition and receive the very best start in life.
“We are delighted to see such stunning improvements across the board with our GCSE results and the fact we are the second best in the country for the English Baccalaureate speaks for itself.”
The figures come from provisional results released by the Government this month. Final results will be published by the Department for Education in January 2014.
