Teddington and Hampton Rotary charity event went with a swing
5:00am Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in News
A Rotary satellite group raised £700 for two charities at a salsa dinner dance.
Teddington and Hampton Rotary satellite group raised the cash for 21 & Co, which supports families of children with Down’s syndrome, and the River Thames Boat Project, which provides community boat trips for the less able.
Event organiser John Wilson handed over the funds at the Thames Venturer barge on Monday, October 14.
He said: “It is the aim of the satellite group to identify local charities that need support and help with fundraising events of this type.
“There were many volunteers who made the night go with a swing and particular thanks go to local salsa dancers Denise Bosque and Lee Burjony who gave up their time freely to teach us all a step or two.
“I am really pleased it was so successful and that our efforts have led to a useful amount of money being generated for our two charities.”
