New solar paneled Whitton homes declared a success
A new Whitton housing development kitted out with solar panels was branded a success.
The eight affordable three and four-bedroom Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP) homes off Hanworth Road have the solar panels to keep bills down.
The development was made possible with funding from Richmond Council’s housing capital programme and the Greater London Authority.
Councillor David Marlow, cabinet member for adult services and housing, said: “It is wonderful to hear families describing their new homes as life-changing.
“This is an excellent high quality, small scale development from RHP, which we welcome.
“The council will continue to work in partnership with RHP to boost the borough’s affordable housing stock and create homes where people want to live.”
The new Iris Mews homes were completed in September.
Geoff Fox, director of development at RHP, said: “With such limited opportunities for new developments in the borough, grant funding means that we can keep rents low and better meet housing need in Richmond.”
