JMW Turner's house in St Margaret's officially added to at risk register
JMW Turner’s country home has been put on English Heritage’s Heritage at Risk register.
Sandycombe Lodge, in St Margarets, was built by the renowned artist as a country retreat for himself and his father in 1813.
However, after decades of neglect the Grade II* listed house has fallen into a state of disrepair and has been added to the register.
Director Nigel Baker said: “We will be supporting the Turner’s House Trust in their efforts to transform the future of their building and hope Sandycombe Lodge can become another success story soon.”
