Dog poo poster scoops first place for Collis Primary School pupil
A schoolboy’s poster encouraging dog owners to pick up their pet’s poo will be displayed across the borough.
Tobias Droy was one of 16 year 5 children from Hampton Hill and Collis Primary School to create a poster for a Richmond Council competition reminding people to clear up after dogs.
The Collis Primary pupil’s winning entry, which shows a cartoon drawing of dog and highlights the key messages, won him a £25 book voucher and will be displayed on park notice boards.
Councillor Pamela Fleming, Richmond’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “While there was only one winner, it is important that all the entrants highlighted the same issue – dog fouling is wrong.
“There is no excuse for not cleaning up after your dog – not only is it unsightly and inconvenient, there are also health risks associated with dog faeces which can be harmful to people, especially children.
“We have a very beautiful borough with lots of parks and open spaces that are attractive to dog walkers. However, all we ask is that owners are responsible and bag it then bin it. If they don’t then they could face a fine.
“I hope that these eye-catching posters will serve as a reminder to pet owners of their responsibilities.”
