Hospitality supremo, from Weybridge and Richmond, given freedom of City of London
5:00am Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
A Weybridge woman has the right to drive sheep and cattle over London Bridge, after being awarded Freedom of the City of London.
Theresa Maw, who previously lived in Richmond, was handed the honour in recognition of her work in the hospitality industry for three decades.
Among the other traditions the honour allows, Ms Maw can carry a sword in public and, if found drunk and incapable by police, will be sent home in a taxi rather than be arrested.
Ms Maw, who is also recognised as a master inn-holder, said she was delighted to be given the freedom of the city she loves.
