Folk trio make break from circuit for Teddington gig
A classic folk trio will give a rare one-off performance in Teddington.
Primarily known for their 1974 a capella hit, After the Goldrush, Prelude were one of the UK’s most successful soft rock bands in the 1970s and 80s.
They enjoyed chart success in both the UK and in America and toured with artists including Ralph McTell, Don McClean and Joan Armatrading.
Their delicate harmonies and acoustic rhythms marked them out from the start and they continue to stay true to their roots, performing a mix of original compositions and thoughtful covers.
In 2009, founder member Ian Vardy rejoined the band and in 2012 Prelude released their first new album since the 1980s.
The trio are firm folk festival favourites and their one-off performance is a chance to catch them out of the circuit.
Brian Hume will play on guitar and vocals, Irene Hume on vocals and percussion and Ian Vardy on guitar and vocals.
Prelude at the Landmark Arts centre, Ferry Road, Teddington, on Saturday, September 21, 7.30pm. Tickets £10 advance and members, £12 on the door. Visit landmarkartscentre.org or call 020 8977 7558.
