Elmbridge Healthy Walks and Cycle Rides scheme will celebrate its 10th anniversary this month.

For a decade, the scheme has helped residents to get active, improve their fitness and make new friends while discovering their local countryside.

A celebration will be on Sunday, September 15, from noon to 3pm at Sadlers Ride car park in Molesey.

Join in either a 30-minute walk or cycle ride to see how the scheme runs and have a chat with the volunteers. The Ramblers, MacMillan Cancer Care and WWAG will also be at the event.

Portfolio holder for leisure and cultural services Councillor Jan Fuller said “My grateful thanks go out to all the volunteer walk and cycle ride leaders who have turned the scheme into a real success throughout the 10 years it has been running.

“They have done an amazing job and participants have greatly benefited from their local knowledge, experience and amazing enthusiasm. Help them spread the word and join in the 10th anniversary celebrations.”

There will also be a 10th Anniversary Celebratory Walk on September 23, from 10.30am to noon in Brooklands Community Park.

Healthy Walks as an independent entity will celebrate its third birthday with an Anniversary of Walks starting from the Molesey Centre for the Community, on Tuesday, September 10, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm with a slow walk after lunch followed by tea with Councillor James Vickers, who launched the scheme in 2010.
