A mother from Twickenham who created recipes for breast-feeding mums with her friend talks has spoken about the future of her company.

Elena Cimelli, of The Ridge, and Jassy Davis, a food writer from Nunhead, launched Contented Calf in 2011 after Mrs Cimelli was inspired by a friend who had been trying different foods to encourage her milk supply.

After speaking with her friend Jassy, a food writer who was studying at Ballymore Cookery School, the pair met up to discuss ideas and started working on recipes in August 2010.

Fast forward three years and Mrs Cimelli, a former marketing manager, has been juggling another child and working on developing further products for the company.

She said: “It’s funny, when you’re caught up in the day-to-day business of juggling life, work, the house, the cleaning, the kids, nursery, sickness, washing etc, like any working parent, you lose sight of the big picture.

“Working for myself, predominantly and only part-time, things (unsurprisingly) progress much slower than when I worked for a big corporate company. And even more so when the girls get sick and I can’t work at all. So on a day-to-day basis, it feels like I haven’t achieved very much.

“However, when I actually stop and look at the past few years, I’m incredibly proud of all that I’ve achieved.”

The Contented Calf Cookbook has won a Silver Lovedbyparents Award in the best innovative gift under £50 category and the Contented Calf website has won a Mumpreneur UK Silver Website award.
