Internationally-renowned photojournalist Reza has teamed up with a leading coffee company to create a stunning picture exhibition in a remarkable outdoor gallery.
The Soul of Coffee exhibition will be at Kew Gardens throughout the duration of the IncrEdibles festival at a specially-designed gallery, located outside the Princess of Wales Conservatory.
The multimedia experience and exhibition of coffee farming practices, and the people and places at the heart of Nespresso coffee production, will be available to all Kew Gardens visitors.
Reza says: “I hope that this photographic testimony will allow each individual and visitor to Kew Gardens to see the faces of the human beings who contributed to the making of their daily cup of coffee.”
During a four month journey through countries including Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala, Ethiopia and India, the 60-year-old met the coffee producers who work alongside Nespresso, and he is now sharing their stories.
The Soul of Coffee exhibition is an artistic venture designed to portray and pay tribute to the individuals who consistently deliver the highest quality coffee to produce Nespresso Grand Crus.
An architect by trade, Reza was compelled to chase his ambition for photography.
He says: “Photography was my love and passion from when I was 14 years old. I studied at university and worked as an architect.
“But in the end I decided to give up everything just to go on the streets taking pictures without knowing if I was going to get a job or be able to pay rent.”
The exhibition is an artistic venture designed to portray and pay tribute to the individuals who produce the highest quality coffee through sustainable methods and commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Nespresso AAA Sustainability Programme, which helps to improve the standard of living for farmers and their families.
Today 68 per cent of Nespresso green coffee is sourced from AAA Programme farms, with a goal to increase this to 80 per cent by the end of 2013.
