Building work has started on a development of new affordable family homes.

Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP) and Richmond Council will build eight new three and four-bedroom houses in Hanworth Road.

The homes will be fitted with solar panels to generate electricity, keep fuel bills low and reduce each home’s carbon footprint.

The council provided funding to help keep the rents for the new homes low and tenants will be nominated from the borough’s housing register.

Councillor Nicola Urquhart cabinet member for adult services, health and housing, said: “Providing family-sized affordable housing is a challenge in our borough and I was therefore delighted to see the Hanworth Road development in progress.

“This scheme will ensure we meet our priority of providing affordable, good sized, well-equipped homes for families in the borough.”
