Twickenham MP Vince Cable lends support to Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign
6:00am Thursday 14th March 2013 in News By Rachel Bishop
Campaigners: The group asked Vince Cable to lobby government
Vince Cable met three Twickenham residents last week calling for him to address root causes of hunger.
Ann Peterken, Richard Weaver and Katrina Rowland, supporters of the Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign, urged immediate action on hunger in George Osborne’s forthcoming budget on March 20.
The campaign is a coalition of more than 100 organisations, working to demand changes to the food system that will benefit hungry people.
The supporters met Vince Cable to protest that 900m people go hungry in a world that produces enough food for everyone.
Mrs Peterken said: “George Osborne’s budget contains decisions about how our country’s money is spent. It can help lay the foundations for a world free from hunger.
“I’m happy I’ve had my say on how the budget should be used to transform lives and build a better future. I would encourage everyone to meet or email their own MP and have their say.”

It's impossible for many ordinary working families, generally outside mega-wealthy Richmond, to afford all they're expected to pay on lower-than-living wage salaries.
It's shameful that it's come to this in our society.
