A Waldegrave School pupil has snapped up the title of Richmond Young Pianist of the Year at the Richmond upon Thames Performing Arts Festival at Kew Community Centre.
Athena Hawksley Walker from Twickenham, who is also a talented violinist, was awarded the Edith Steinitz Memorial prize of £100.
Angus Bain from Hampton School was also awarded the trophy for the best performance of the work by Chopin, while William Sternberg from Wimbledon won the Concerto Shield for some virtuoso playing of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto, No 1.
The piano section of the festival continues on March 17, at Kew Community Centre from 2pm.
