Olympic athletes delight with Teddington visit
12:00pm Friday 8th March 2013 in News By Rachel Bishop
Legacy: Rossco Murray, Marilyn Okoro and Scott Overall
Sport lovers got the chance to meet three Olympic athletes.
More than 60 people met distance runner Scott Overall, who is a former Orleans Park School pupil, and St Mary’s University student Rossco Murray, who came back from injury to qualify for the London Games.
Top 800m runner Marilyn Okoro was also at the event, after discovering she was awarded the bronze medal as Russian Yuliya Rusanova was disqualified after failing a drugs test.
The event was held at the Physio and Therapy clinic in Broad Street, Teddington, which treats sports injuries at all levels, including top British athletes.
Director Paul Hobrough wanted to give his clients the chance to meet some of his more famous customers.
Mr Hobrough said: “We did a little ceremony and presented her with a bronze medal. We had a really really good evening.
“It’s kind of a kickback for my clients. They hear about the fact that I treat Olympic athletes but it doesn’t compute and isn’t a part of their lives. So I wanted them to get the chance to meet them.
“The delight on people’s faces was just superb.”
