The Others will be bringing Richmond Rhythm and Blues back to the Eel Pie Club this month.

The group are returning to the club 50 years after they formed, bringing their 60s cult sound of rhythm and blues, influenced by the area at a time when The Stones and The Yardbirds started to penetrate pop consciousness.

Paul Stewart, Peter Hammerton and Robert Tolchard, backed by drummer Geoff Coxon will be playing a set of revisited 60s classics at the gig.

Stewart, of Church Path in Mortlake, says: “It’s kind of amazing that the Rolling Stones and all these big names began in the area.

“The Eel Pie Club really was the place to be - it was sort of like a mini-Glastonbury. Every week lots of people would spill out onto the lawn opposite the island.

“Richmond Rhythm and Blues was born from a variation of rhythm and blues that came from the music we were playing influenced by black artists from the states.”

The former Hampton School pupil said since the band reformed last year, they have had a great reaction from fans - with many bringing the original copy of their hit Oh Yeah to sign.
