3:49pm Monday 4th March 2013 in News By Rachel Bishop
Danger: Two people have been hit trying to cross the A316 in the past week
A woman suffered head injuries after she was hit by a car while trying to cross the A316 today.
The 39-year-old was reportedly crossing the westbound lane from Chudleigh Road when she was hit by a car.
A police spokeswoman said: “There was an accident on the A316/Edgerton Road at about 11.51am today. A 39-year-old female was crossing the westbound lane, at the Chudleigh Road crossing when she was hit by a car. The road was closed while police dealt with the accident and traffic was diverted.”
A spokeswoman for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called just before 11.50am to Edgerton Road to reports of a road traffic collision. We sent a single responder in a car, an ambulance crew, a duty officer, and London Air Ambulance to the scene.
“Our staff treated one patient - a woman for head and facial injuries and she was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in an ambulance, supported by a doctor from the Air Ambulance. She was stable when she was in the ambulance.”
A 42-year-old man from Feltham suffered a fractured leg and head injuries while trying to cross the same stretch of carriageway (A316) only three miles down the road on Wednesday, February 27.
Drivers faced severe delays after the road was shut in the eastbound direction towards Richmond after the accident in Country Way, near the Snakey Lane flyover at Hanworth.
The man was hit by a silver Honda Insight in the middle lane after trying to cross six lanes of fast-moving traffic at about 8.20am.
The car stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made, but police are still appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.

Time for them to stop relying on GATSO cameras and get some officers out on the road armed with handheld radars.
