Emotional: Michael Ball in Les Miserables
Fans of Les Miserables can get their hands on a piece of theatrical history.
Shooting Star Chase patron and musical star Michael Ball and Sir Cameron Mackintosh have donated an original costume to be auctioned to raise money for the Hampton charity.
The Marius outfit was worn by Ball in the original West End production of Les Miserables and the 10th Anniversary Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
It will appear on eBay for 10 days to raise funds for Shooting Star Chase, a children’s hospice service that supports families with a child or teenager not expected to reach their 19th birthday.
Ball said: “This is an exciting opportunity to own a special piece of theatrical history, to help a wonderful cause. And by the way, the suit still looks terrific on.”
Karen Sugarman, director of specialist fundraising at Shooting Star Chase, said: “Michael and Sir Cameron’s passion and commitment to the charity means that we can help raise vital funds for the 600 families we care for who find themselves in the most unimaginable circumstances.
“We are honoured to be given such a wonderful fundraising opportunity. The costume is stunning.”
