Two mothers are overjoyed after their scooter accessories were picked to be sold nationwide.

Jules King and Emma Barnsdale created Skoobandz, which are colourful stretchy bands that can be collected to personalise kids’ scooters.

The mothers, who have five children aged two to eight years old, launched their new business early last year, and managed to get their product into local stores, including Happicraft in Twickenham.

Skoobandz are now in JoJo Maman Bebe stores and will be sold across the country.

Miss King said: “We’re over the moon to be in JoJo Maman Bebe and see Skoobandz in their shops nationwide. It’s an exciting time for us.”

The two mums came up with the idea for Skoobandz after noticing their children and friends collecting red rubber bands dropped by postmen to stretch over their scooters.

Although the pair has loved creating the product, they said their biggest challenge was launching a business while caring for five young children between them.

Miss Barnsdale said: “We’ve made calls to accountants on the school run, designed packaging with children climbing on us, begged favours for free childcare and timed phone calls around lunchtime naps (not ours).

“The kids have loved it though as we’ve played ‘shops’ numerous times in a bid to find out what their favourite coloured bands would be.”
