Pupils and pancake lovers savour Shrove Tuesday

A flipping good time was had by people celebrating Shrove Tuesday.

Children at Chase Bridge Primary School were joined by the head chef of the Wolseley, Lawrence Keogh, head pastry chef Matt Hayes and Sarah Howard from the Academy of Culinary Arts.

The Twickenham pupils donned aprons and chef hats to make pancakes and learn about healthy eating as part of the Chef Adopt a School campaign on Tuesday, February 12.

The charity scheme sends top chefs into schools to deliver food education, including where food comes from, how it is grown and how to cook it.

The event was part of a week of food-related activities for the Chase Bridge students, who also enjoyed a talk from a farmer, a visit to Kingston market and vegetable growing in the school allotment.

In Twickenham’s Church Street people pulled on their running shoes for a race around St Mary’s Church on Pancake Day.

Creperie Delice served up tasty treats for people to enjoy in the square before the race started.
