Twickenham students use the humble doughnut for a greater cause

Students have been collecting dough-nations for a New Delhi charity through sales of doughnuts, ahead of a planned trip to the Indian capital.

Richmond College students Amelia Jones, Hannah Simpson and Julia Skinner sold doughnuts on Tuesday, January 29, for charity Asha – which means hope in Hindi.

The trio will be visiting New Delhi between February 14 and February 24 as part of a youth group trip organised by St Stephen’s Church, Twickenham, where they will help to redecorate Asha’s medical clinics and visit some of the city’s poorest slums.

A-level student Hannah Simpson, 17, from Teddington said: “We’re on target to raise more than £5,000 for Asha so the kind contributions we received from students and staff today will all help towards the fund.

“The charity is doing great things to improve the lives of people in New Delhi’s slums and I’m really grateful that the three of us will have the opportunity to help Asha with their work next month.”
