A criminal tale of a woman obsessed with having children, a Shakespearean drama and a community production are highlights of the spring season at St Mary’s Theatre.
Members of the public can enjoy a variety of student and external theatre company productions at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, this year.
The season opens with William Shakespeare’s Pericles, directed by Sonia Ritter and performed by second year theatre arts students, on Wednesday, February 6.
The play is one of Shakespeare’s more rarely performed offerings and follows the prince Pericles as he flees for his life and searches for his lost wife and daughter.
In April, the university will welcome the Les Enfants Terribles Theatre Company for performances of the Trench, which they toured at the Edinburgh Festival and London’s Old Vic Tunnels.
In the same month former student Katie Henry will return to St Mary’s fresh from her assistant directing role on Warhorse in London’s West End, to direct Federico Garcia Lorca’s Yerma.
The play follows a young woman in her yearning for children and tells how her obsession leads her to commit a horrific crime.
Drama St Mary’s will also continue its tradition of community productions with a new show devised by international director Chris Baldwin in April.
