Life saver: Grant Clifford has donated 75 times
A man from Hampton was presented an NHS award after his 75 blood donations saved hundreds of lives.
Grant Clifford was presented with the award by the NHS Blood and Transplant after his numerous blood donations saved hundreds of lives.
Mr Clifford, who was one of 61 to get an award, said: “I was first motivated to register as a blood donor to find out what blood group I was to engrave it on an ID bracelet that was a 21st birthday present. I continued to give blood because I wanted to give something back to society.”
The award, which recognised the loyalty and commitment to giving blood, was presented at a ceremony in Watford’s Hilton hotel on January 16.
Each blood donation could save the lives of up to three people, so a donor who has given blood 75 times has potentially helped save the lives of 225 patients.
