Developers' community contribution consultation opens
10:53am Thursday 24th January 2013 in News By Clare Buchanan
Businesses and people are being encouraged to have their say on fees to be paid by developers for the benefit of the community.
The community infrastructure levy is paid by those undertaking new projects in the borough and will be spent on transport, schools, parks and open spaces, health and social care facilities.
The charge will replace the current funding system and people can comment on the level of the fees and how Richmond Council will implement it.
Councillor Virginia Morris cabinet member for environment said: “The borough community infrastructure levy provides a new source of funding for essential infrastructure that will be required to serve communities as a result of development.
“This is vital when local services such as schools, transport and health facilities are under increasing pressure.”
