Trains run revised timetables due to arrival of snow

Snow to cause disruption Snow to cause disruption

Snow is arriving in South London and Surrey this morning and widespread disruption is expected.

Schools are closing early and train operators are running revised timetables meaning journeys are likely to be delayed.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning for the area encouraging people to make sure they are prepared for several centimetres of snow.

Forresters Primary School has already closed amid fears about staff being unable to get home. Other schools around the borough are planning to close early. To get updates on your child's school visit https://www.sutton.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=5419.

Southern Trains will not split or join at Horsham or Haywards Heath affecting services into and out of London. South west Trains are operating revised timetables in and out of Waterloo and on stopping services to Woking, Guildford and Kingston via Wimbledon and to Reading, Windsor and Kingston via Richmond.

Snow is expected to fall throughout most of today and over the weekend.

I travel everyday from Sutton to Redhill
At 7.00am no grit on the main roads in Sutton - Banstead to Redhill all roads gritted including the side roads I use
No doubt we will hear the trucks put down 500 tonnes of grit last night !!!

@LiberalsOut

I don't get your name. This is the Richmond & Twickenham Times and the Liberals are in opposition locally. Boris Johnson, Tory, is sadly mayor at London level and nationally you would have to say that Tories are well and truly in power with Liberals making up their vote only.

Why LiberalsOut? And just where are they in? I'm completely puzzled.

My comment was posted on the Sutton Guardian website where the Liberals are definately IN
At least the people of Richmond had the good sense to vote them out
