Severe delays on A316 after accident

The A316
The A316 was closed for an hour and is still severely congested after a van went into the back of a car this morning.
The car driver had to be pulled from the vehicle on a spine board after he was shunted from behind by a van between Hospital Bridge Road and Apex Corner.
Police closed the road off for an hour to investigate the incident shortly after it happened at 7.45am.
A Twickenham fire fighter said: “We dissembled the seats of the car and got him out of the back on a spine board.”
There are still delays along the A316 and people are being advised to avoid the road if possible.
