Urban guerrillas are being sought to give neglected plots a little green-fingered love and attention.
Twickenham Town Centre Business Association (TTBA) has a list of plots that need redeeming and plans to look after them all, but hopes some keen gardeners may also come forward.
Members discovered a neglected planter two years ago and persuaded Neil Chapman of Percy Chapman and Sons to replant them for the summer. This year they have established a formal winter garden there.
Shona Lyons, from TTBA and Crusader Travel, said: “We hope that our endeavours will be an inspiration to our fellow traders and businesses to look about for the odd spaces that could be rescued and beautified with a little TLC to enhance our street scene at little or no cost to the administration.
“We can assure you that this labour of love can be lots of fun, and a way of making one feel a part of the community; you can do it with your family, neighbours, colleagues and fellow traders– it is a great team building exercise and much more fun than paintballing.”
