A man suffered head injuries after he was thrown from his car during a crash.

The 61-year-old was taken as a priority to the major trauma unit at St Mary’s Hospital after the accident on the A316 Hounslow Road in Hanworth on Sunday at about 7.30am.

The eastbound slip road was closed to traffic as police, ambulance and fire fighters attended the incident.

A Twickenham fire fighter said: “There was no need for a rescue as such because he had been thrown from his car.

“Fortunately no other cars were involved.”

A spokesman for the London ambulance service said the man was treated at the scene for head injuries and was conscious and breathing when he was taken to hospital.
