If you saw Circus Of Horrors of New Wimbledon Theatre last month and thought that was amazing, wait until you see the Chinese State Circus next week.
Precision acrobatics, Shaolin martial arts, dazzling circus skills and colourful characters from Peking Opera will all be on show as the company presents its new live action spectacular featuring the Shaolin Warriors.
Leaving the audience on the edge of the seats will be gravity-defying gymnastics, impossible body manipulations from the hand-balancer, the somersaulting repertoire of the hoop divers and the lavish tradition of the Lion Dance.
Mulan is based on the legend of one of China’s greatest heroines, a peasant girl who led an army to save her nation from invasion.
Passed down from generation to generation, the ballad of Mulan, written during the Tang dynasty 2000 years ago, is the inspiring heroic story of a strong-minded country girl who joined the Emperor’s all-male army in place of her father who was too old to fight.
Through her warrior skills she was promoted to the rank of General yet throughout her epic exploits defeating all her enemies no one was aware that she was a woman.
Chinese State Circus, New Wimbledon Theatre, The Broadway, February 4th 7pm, 5th 5pm and 8pm, 6th 2.30pm and 7.30pm, £14 to £26. Call 0844 871 7646 or visit ambassadortickets.com.
