Children's entertainer Farmer Jason is playing four free concerts in London this month.

Music fans may be more likely to recognise music artist Jason Ringenberg in his day-clothes when he plays with Jason and the Scorchers.

But the Americana musician has also gained critical acclaim for his brainchild Farmer Jason, created to educate children about farm animals and farm life.

His first record was inspired by his life living on a farm in Nashville with his family, based on his own childhood experiences.

The project was a success, earning kudos from the likes of Disney and his TV programme scooped an Emmy Award in 2009.

Soon kids were singing along to 'The Tractor Goes Chug Chug' at Farmer Jason family concerts across America and Europe.

His latest release Nature Jams features the likes of REM's Mike Mills, Steve Gorman from The Black Crowes and Irish rockers The Saw Doctors.

An unlikely cameo is also made by Norwegian crime novelist Jo Nesbø, as well as legendary Tommy Ramone of the Ramones.

Stylistically the songs range from Celtic rock to pure folk, broaching subjects like whale watching, ice skating and potholing.

Mr Ringenberg said: "My ambitions were quite simple - to make a record that my own daughters and their little friends could enjoy.

"The central goal of the record is to inspire and motivate children to get outdoors and experience nature first-hand. I get more satisfaction when that happens than from any award or sold-out show."
