A Wandsworth mum has struck upon something different with her weekly fitness class in Battersea Park – it’s for dogs too.
Georgina Jackson-Sytner used to keep fit by running in the park with her Shih Tzu Yum Yum until she set up her own exercise sessions, called Barking Fit.
She was inspired after hearing about a growing trend of people training with their dogs in the US and now helps people keep fit with classes every Thursday morning.
While the humans do a whole-body workout that varies from high-intensity cardio to dynamic stretching, toning and strength work, the dogs run amongst them off their leads.
Georgina said: “It’s great. The people who do it absolutely love it because their dogs get walked and they get a full body work out.
“It is just amazing – the dogs, even if they don’t know each other, all get on. I think that is because they love being in a pack.
“They are very funny. If we are lying on the ground doing ab work they do actually sit down and look as though they are laughing.”
Sessions cost £10 and meet at 9.30am at the Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park
