Racing fans will have the chance to meet leading trainers and take a look around a racehorse’s training yard as Epsom Downs opens up for a fun day on August 31.
For the first time this year, the Bank Holiday raceday will start with a Trainers’ Open morning from 9am to noon, prior to the racing.
The openings will give an insight and chance to go behind the scenes to meet some equine heroes, their trainers and staff.
A courtesy bus will run from car park 15 on Tattenham Corner Road and proceeds will go to charity Epsom Racing Staff Welfare.
Among those opening their stables are current leader of the Sir David Prosser Trophy Simon Dow, Michael Attwater, Roger Ingram, James Boyle, Pat Phelan, Roger Teal and Laura Mongan.
Last year, Epsom’s trainers enjoyed one of their best years on record, winning £1million in prize money and 160 races between them.
As well as the open stables and the racing, there is free entertainment for children including appearances from Ben and Holly and the annual Shetland Pony Derby.
Tickets cost £20 for the lot and kids get in free. Go to epsomdowns.co.uk
