A race day with a difference take place at Sandown Park racecourse later this month.

With the school holidays coming to a close, the Esher racecourse is helping to keep youngsters active with its first sports day alongside a day of racing.

From free football coaching and football skills from Chelsea FC coaches to shooting master classes from Surrey Storm netball team, there is something for lovers of all sports.

Surrey United basketball team will also be on hand with a three-point shooting challenge and the Surrey Smashers badminton team will be recruiting sporty youngsters and adults alike for their smash up challenge.

Rupert Trevelyan, regional director for London Racecourses, said: "Friday, August 29, is the last Friday of the school holidays and parents will be wondering what to do with their children just before school term starts.

"With a host of sporting activities available and all for free, this is the perfect active day to bring them along and let them enjoy a day of pure sport."
