LIVE albums can make for a difficult listen.
They can come across as a lazy venture that only die-hard fans will buy and make you feel totally disconnected from the atmosphere.
Fortunately, Welcome to the Carnivale, which was recorded last year at Swanage Carnival, manages to translate the energy and character of the quartet with their spirited psychobilly, which includes covers of Ryan Adams and Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.
Clocking in at 17 tracks, it isn't a short listen, but it does go some way towards proving they’re worth catching live. myspace.com/ladywinwoodsmaggot2
