'Eccentric' skiffle orchestra to perform in Wimbledon
The London Philharmonic Skiffle Orchestra have been performing to audiences from Finland to the Isle of Man for over a decade – and this month they are coming to Wimbledon.
Described as a celtic, Cajan, Kletzmer, country blues band, The London Philharmonic Orchestra was formed in 2001 and have carved an eccentric reputation for themselves thanks to their colourful costumes, theatrics and unusual instruments.
The quartet includes Martyn, chief fiddle, mandolin, knee trumpet and frog player, Mike on the guitar, banjo, uke and horse, and Captain Cabbage, who plays the washboard, accordion, saw and snake, and the Right Horrible Ronald Regan who completes the ensemble with a Bass banjo, Sousaphone and trumpet and pig.
Having played all over Europe, the group is appearing at the Colour House Theatre at Merton Abbey Mills on June 22.
