New musical brings 90s Cool Britannia to stage
Cool Britannia will hit Wimbledon next month as 90s musical Everything in Colour makes its debut at the New Wimbledon Studio. Set in the heart of Camden in 1997, Everything in Colour charts the story of struggling musician Perry and his band, Nude Idol, as they decide to enter a talent competition which promises them a shot at the big time.
The audience will be taken back to a time of Girl Power and baggy jeans, when Britpop titans Oasis and Blur ruled the airwaves.
Bust ups and love trysts play out over one summer evening, against the backdrop of a changing Britain as Tony Blair storms to victory in the general election.
The original script and lyrics were written by Leighton Carter and the score by Glitterbug and Romeu/Nelson.
Everything in Colour; New Wimbledon Studio, The Broadway, Wimbledon; July 17-21 at 7.45pm; Tickets £12, concs £8; 0844 871 7646.
