Nazish Omar owns a bakery in Tooting
A banker-turned baker is celebrating after being courted by Bollywood for her culinary skills.
Nazish Omar, 44, from Southfields, baked a cake for the launch of musician and producer Bally Sagoo’s new album Future Shock last month, and has not looked back.
The baker has now been asked to design, bake, and decorate a cake for the release of Ajay Devgan’s latest movie.
The film, Himmatwala, is due to hit cinema screens at the end of March.
And Ms Omar, whose bakery is called Deelicious Nazish’s Kitchen, has been asked to design a cake for the London launch of the movie.
Ms Omar said: "I loved coming up with the idea and it was wonderful to have my work be appreciated by such a big star."
"Designing a cake takes a long time. First I research the event, album, or film and I draw out various ideas. When I’ve settled on one, I decide which material will work best, sugar paste, butter cream, royal icing, or florist paste.
After starting her career as an investment banker, Ms Omar moved to London and she enrolled at the Cordon Bleu School where she trained as a pastry chef.
Two years later she opened her own bakery which is based in Tooting Bec Road.
