A riverside pub and hotel in Twickenham has been refreshed with improved bedrooms and outdoor areas.

The Alexander Pope, named after the 18th century poet who lived nearby, was given a refurbishment by owners Young’s.

It boasts 32 rooms with wood panelling and vintage furniture. The ground floor rooms have porthole-style windows and upstairs the double or twin rooms have balconies.

For most diners or drinkers, the noticeable change will be in the garden.

Looking out over Radnor Gardens and the Thames, the pub has a glass atrium with poetry-stocked bookshelves and wooden furniture while the garden is newly turfed with a heated terrace.

The Alexander Pope’s general manager Richard Cross said: “The Alexander Pope is enjoying its first summer with its brand new look.

“We’ve given the outdoor area a makeover for the warmer months, to make more of the pub’s location beside the Thames, as well as refurbishing the pub’s bedrooms and introducing new food and drink menus.

“If you haven’t been to The Alexander Pope for a couple of months, now is the time to come back and see the pub at its best.”
