All good things come to an end, even the 1970s – though it has taken a while longer for one of the decade’s defining bands to call it a day.
Renowned for hits like Blockbuster and Ballroom Blitz, Sweet have been rocking for nearly 50 years and have sold more than 55 million records. They will play Croydon’s Fairfield Halls for one final time on Tuesday, December 8.
The glam rock band, led by original member Andy Scott, is headlining the Glitz, Blitz and 70s Hitz tour alongside fellow 70s acts Mud 2 and The Rubettes.
Andy Scott said: “For Sweet to be going back out on tour in the UK on such a big scale for what will probably be the last time is a real thrill.
“For us performing is at the very heart of what we do and though fashions change our songs have lasted through five decades. When we’re up on the stage in front of an audience it’s almost as if time has stood still.”
Tickets cost £30 or £32. Go to www.fairfield.co.uk or call 020 8688 9291.
