An Oscars frontrunner is set to receive a gala screening at London Film Festival in October.
Todd Haynes’ 1950s set drama Carol will get its UK premiere at Odeon Leicester Square on Wednesday, October 14, with the director attending alongside its stars, Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett and Oscar-nominee Rooney Mara.
The film is based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Price of Salt and debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this year, where it competed for the Palme D’Or award and Rooney Mara ties with Emmanuelle Bercot (Mon Roi) for best actress.
Todd Haynes said: “We are all extremely proud to be presenting the UK premiere of CAROL at the BFI London Film Festival, a film adaptation which had its roots in Britain, and a festival which has meant a tremendous amount to me personally over the years.”
Carol will be released in cinemas nationwide on November 27. The 59th BFI London Film Festival runs from October 7 to 18. The full programme will be announced on September 1.
