Disney has just released a set of new images from the highly-anticipated new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens.

That means we get a good look at Peckham-born John Boyega, who studied performing arts at South Thames College in Wandsworth, in one of the lead roles.

Boyega, 23, plays one-time stormtrooper Finn in the new instalment in the sci-fi franchise, which is set to be released in December.

There’s not a huge amount known about the JJ Abrams-directed film, which is Episode VII in the Star Wars canon, though we do know it is set thirty years after the events in 1983’s Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.

It also re-unites the original trilogy’s stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia respectively.

Other old favourites, such as wookie Chewbacca, droids R2-D2 and C3PO and the ship the Millenium Falcon all feature.

As well as Boyega, new additions to the cast include Oscar Issac as X-wing pilot Poe Dameron, Daisy Ridley as the as-yet mysterious Rey, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o and Andy Serkis as bad guy Supreme Leader Snoke.
