One of my absolute favourite games series of the past few years is dictator sim Tropico.

This light-hearted mix of city builder and political strategy puts players into the palatial surroundings of a Caribbean ruler, tasking them with staying in power for as long as possible while grabbing all the personal wealth and fame they can along the way.

The series, now on its fifth main instalment, is hugely fun to play and I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone who enjoys simulation or strategy games.

Bearded despot El Presidente will be making his PlayStation debut next month when Tropico 5 is released on PS4 on April 24 featuring full 1080p, a solid 30 FPS frame-rate and remote play compatibility with PS Vita.

I’m very much looking forward to it. Being able to play it on my console instead of laptop, the first time for me, will really add something to the experience.

Hopefully this trailer will pique your interest too if Tropico isn’t already on your radar.

Tropico overlord Kalypso Media is opening a mobile division so hopefully one day I’ll be able to play the game on my iPad too.

For players currently stuck into the PC, Mac or SteamOS version of Tropico, some new DLC has been released giving you the chance to be properly evil. Actually, that should be eviiiiiiil.

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

The £2.49 Supervillain add-on has El Presidente setting out to be the baddest man in the Caribbean, consumed by madness and intent on destroying mankind as we know it.

Help him build a heavily defended top-secret hideout, build a giant laser hidden inside his evil lair and then launch a campaign towards world domination.

Sounds awesome.
