The history of the National Jazz Festival will be thrust into the spotlight at the Richmond Local History Society.
Richmond heritage guide Alan Sherriff gives a talk on the impact of the national jazz and blues festivals held at the Old Deer Park from 1961 to 1965 before it moved elsewhere and later becoming Reading Festival.
In the five years in Richmond, the festival featured performances from the Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart.
As a teenager, Mr Sherriff came to Richmond from Newcastle for one of the festivals and ended up staying in the area.
He will chart the passage of the launch of the festival and its five-year residency in the borough at Duke Street Church, Richmond, on March 9 from 7.30pm.
The talk is free to Richmond Local History Society members and £2 for visitors.
