A storyteller is set to recount terrible tales from the trenches and stories about men who refused to fight.
Janet Dowling will regale the members of a children’s history club at Bourne Hall Museum in Ewell on Wednesday, February 18.
In the first session she will recount some of the tales that troops found time to tell to boost their morale in the trenches.
Then in the next session the same day she will share the stories of men who cannot return to the frontline or whose conscience told them not to fight.
