A magic porridge pot, talking gingerbread man and a magic stone that makes soup are all on the menu for this inventive puppet show.

Granny Grinpickle and her flying dog Podge star in the Magic Porridge Pot, and puppeteer Andy Lawrence says the younger children are entranced by the magical canine.

He says: "The very young children are amazed by the dog, Podge, and how he can fly. Older children are fascinated by how he can make porridge come out of the pot.

"I do love making the porridge, but I can’t tell you how I do it, it’s a trade secret."

Lawrence became frustrated with his career creating costumes for television and theatre, and began telling stories using the puppets he created 20 years ago.

He says: "I love making the puppets and bringing them to life, telling stories with the characters.

"When things go well you really feel like you’re making a connection with the children and their parents and it’s a brilliant feeling."
