What do you know about Kingston’s twin town in north Germany?

If the answer is not much, then the Northern Attitudes exhibition at Kingston Museum this December and January could be the answer.

The free exhibition will feature 12 artists who have created works specifically for the project, which aims to provide an insight into the art scene in Oldenburg in Lower Saxony.

The artists are all members of the Bund Bildender Künstler, the professional artists’ association in Germany, which has links with the Kingston Artists Open Studios (Kaos).

The exhibition follows the success of an exchange in November, where Kingston artists were hosted in Oldenburg for a private viewing of their Art in Transit exhibition.

Visitor numbers and selling figures were so high that several Kingston artists have subsequently found homes in Oldenburg.

The event in Kingston will feature a combination of painting, sculpture and installations.

The exchange is not only on a professional level, but will extend to the Kaos playing host to the artists in their own homes.
