Drinkers got the fright of their lives when they walked into their local and discovered witches, zombies, skeletons and werewolves had taken over the pub.
But they breathed a sigh of relief when they realised that rather than the hellmouth opening in Sutton, the creatures were just the staff of The Old Bank in fancy dress for Halloween.
Vying for the top spot in the spookiest costume competition were barmaid Abbey Coleman, who dressed as a zombie schoolgirl, and assistant manager Sean ‘the werewolf’ Markham.
Mr Markham said: “We asked a lot of customers and my costume was voted best because they genuinely couldn't tell it was me.
“Myself and Abbey had a lot of scared feedback about our eyes.
“My eyes freaked people out and Abbey kept being asked to stop looking at people.”
Pete Dawson's winning pumpkin
At the pub on Friday night they also had a pumpkin carving competition, which was won by regular Pete Dawson.
