Bands and a disabled dance and drama group will perform in Leatherhead High Street to kick off a month-long arts festival.

Rough Edges, Atlantis and Mocara and Freewheelers Theatre Company will take part in the street party at the beginning of Mole Valley Arts Alive Festival.

Another street party in Dorking, featuring festival patron soprano Natalie Coyle, will be held on the same day to mark its start.

The 20th annual festival includes everything from music, plays, dance and poetry to writers’ workshops and poppy making classes for children.

Councillor James Friend, executive member for wellbeing at Mole Valley District Council (MVDC), says: "Helping people to participate in and enjoy our local arts scene supports health and well-being as well as encouraging the on-going vitality and character of our towns and villages."
