VIDEO: Channel 4's The Jump skeleton competition turns Purley's Laura Hamilton into 'human pinball'
Hurtling down an icy track like a ‘human pinball’ is not most people’s idea of fun but daredevil Laura Hamilton showed her skills on television last night.
As one of the celebrities taking part on Channel 4’s The Jump, Laura, from Purley, rode a small sled face down on the skeleton track reaching speeds of up to 60mph.
The 31-year-old found fame on ice when she came second on ice skating show Dancing on Ice in 2011.
But, speaking to Croydon Guardian from Austria, she says last night’s experience was very different.
She said: “Riding the skeleton course feels like being a human pinball.
“Your face is so close to the ice and it’s insanely fast.”
The slowest two celebrities on the skeleton course were supposed to take part in a ski jump competition to decide who would be leaving the contest.
But Amy Childs, from reality show The Only Way Is Essex, was automatically eliminated as she refused to jump.
