A World Elsewhere is a new play written by former Times journalist Alan Franks.

The play is set at Oxford College in 1968, where Franks once studied alongside former US President Bill Clinton.

Franks examines a world on the brink of yet another war and the institutional politics of one of England’s oldest universities.

Vietnam is rousing students from their hedonism, while Richard Nixon’s presidential election looms large.

Post-graduate Elliott Farmer is leading the protests in the university’s timeless quads.
The play focuses on politics on all levels – from internationalstatesmanship through to the dirty tricks of old rivals.
