Top comedians are performing a tribute gig in memory of a colleague who died of a brain tumour.

The Deceased Comedian's Ball is taking place in honour of Ed Rikard Bell, former resident MC at The Bedford, who died earlier this year aged just 46.

He hosted the weekly New Acts evening and has helped many big names get their foot on the ladder.

A number of comedians are donating their time for free to perform at the gig.
Performers who have pledged to do a turn include Paul Sinha, of The Chase, and

Joe Wilkinson, who has stared in 8 Out of 10 Cats.

The line up also includes Diane Morgan, Steve Hall, Dan Evans and impressionist Stefano Paolini.

Stephen Carling, of Stewart Lee's Alternative Comedy Show and comic Suzy Bennett will be performing sets.

The audience can also take part in a raffle on the night with prizes including some insider TV spots, which are not usually available to the public.

All the proceeds of the evening are being donated to the Neurosciences Research Foundation, which is headed by St George's Hospital surgeon Dr Henry Marsh.
